Diamondback in the House!

Remember your first mountain bike? We sure do. After several years as a kid saving up allowances and stacking up the piggy bank, I was finally ready to head down to my local REI. Can’t remember exactly what I was riding up to that point- probably some hand me down or garage sale pick up that at the very least got me out on the trails. But it was time for an upgrade and I could not have been more excited.

My first bike was a shiny red hard tail diamondback. It was love at first sight. I remember distinctly the diamond shaped retro logo on the top tube, paired up with what seem’d at the time an absolutely cutting edge rock shox fork. It was several sizes too big for me of course, because my folks recommended something I could “grow into”. Never the less I remember ripping the bike as hard as I possibly could, trying to climb and descend things that I would have never imagined before.

Fast forward to 17 years later (boy does time fly…) and oddly enough, after falling in love and riding e-mountain bikes almost exclusively for the past 5 years or so, my interest in the acoustic mountain bike has been re-ignited. I would never consider replacing my ebike with a traditional pedal bike, as i’m now able to go places- elevations, and speeds I would never have dreamed about before. There is also an absolute level of convenience with the electric bike whenever I just want to zip somewhere quick (from point A to B) without wanting to drive my car or ride my full size gas motorcycle.

My electric bike is here to stay till the end, however there is something special about its analog counterpart. For pure simplicity, and exercise, there is no beating the experience of riding a pedal bike. The feeling of the bike underneath you (most notably a full suspension carbon mountain bike at or below 30 lbs) is certainly something special.

Although DB no longer sells to big box stores, we have been quite impressed with their lineup in recent years. If you’re familiar at all with Seth’s Bike Hacks (with almost 2m followers on youtube to date, who isn’t?), you probably would have noticed that he is sponsored by Diamondback and almost exclusively rides and promotes the brand. In all honesty, his channel is partly what has re-ignited our love affair with the analog bike, and the brand we know today. From mid-range offerings all the way up to the high end stuff- we were stoked on the DB lineup. Bikes like the Release 4C & 5C Carbon, and Sync’r (carbon hard tail) certainly has gotten our blood flowing. The newest redesigned Mission 1C & 2C, slated for a late 2020 release has got us even more pumped up.

So in coming full circle, we would like to announce Diamondback as an official brand of Ebikes Hawaii! Here on our page we have listed a few key models. However because we are officially partnering up with the brand, you can also visit their website direct, and have the bikes shipped directly to your local Ebikes Hawaii Store (Honolulu or Kapolei). Below are some photos of their latest offerings, to get you started.
