Surron: Customize your ride

The Surron X is a highly engineered monster electric dirt bike capable of reaching performance levels dwarfing that of even gas-powered dirt bikes. The single most accessible thing about a Surron is the fact that it is so highly customizable. Parts and upgrades for it exist on every corner of the internet and retail stores. Many components (bars, stems, brakes, suspension, etc.) are interchangeable with most high-end Downhill MTB products to provide a massive range of performance and cosmetic upgrades. The Surron includes a magnetized, internal motor with 6000W of power. Created especially for the bike, this axial flux electric motor is not a rebranded piece. With the axial’s ability to provide a higher rate of accessible power, it packs a greater punch in a smaller package than a radial flux. The 2-stage drive makes it possible for the motor to run a high RPM without overheating and without excessive noise. A belt in the first stage reduces noise from the RPM and a chain in the second moderates the torque on the rear wheel. Leaving the second stage drive chain a chain instead of a belt can help with the massive torque that powers this engine. Some city commuters will swap the secondary drive chain out for a belt, which will make this already quiet ride all that much more silent. The modification choices are endless with a Surron X.

The Sine Wave controller plays a major part in not only the sound of the bike but also the simplicity of operation. This upgraded controller improves on the older model which had rougher edges and a square shape. The newest Sine Wave controllers are the latest in brushless motor controllers and smooth out many of the rough edges of the old school “square wave” controllers. The upgrades to the controller result in 30% less noise compared to the older stock controller. The next big difference is that you will notice a much smoother throttle response off the line. The new Sine Wave controllers are digitally controlled and programmed, resulting in a much more stable and predictable power curve throughout the entire range of operation. In addition to the polished power delivery, this controller outputs approximately 20% more torque than the last generation. A unique, regenerative feature also allows you to charge the battery when coasting over 12 KMH. This regenerative option does add some resistance when riding but can be switched off for an easier, gliding coast similar to that of a non-motorized bike.
